Explore Vanadzor Region

This is the third largest city of Armenia and statistically it has population of about 80 thousand people. The city lake (Lecher for the locals)
A great place to feel cool gentle wind after a long hot ride is the city lake. Surrounded with beautiful willows, and benches underneath them, it looks calming. The Lake is one of the top places to visit in Vanadzor. You can rent a boat and ride it, alone or with a little company.

Top places to visit in Vanadzor
Vanadzor still has some remains of old buildings of soviet times. There is one building which you will be amazed to explore: the old complex of Artek summer camp, which is now abandoned. It is located under the forests, near the botanical garden.
The buildings are situated on a hill high above the city and after quite a bit of struggle of climbing the mountain, you will see the roads and the forests from height and you will be fascinated with the breath-taking scenery.
The buildings are ruined after the devastating earthquake in 1988 but still the rooms, bathrooms, stairs and other parts of the building are seen through the destroyed walls of the building.
Tourism in Vanadzor
Tourism in Vanadzor is not as developed as in the capital. As you already know it is a little town, which has a few places to visit, but however there are a lot of restaurants, fast food places and cafes. There is one cafe with live music every night located in the central park, it is surrounded with a little water pool with ducks swimming in it.
Another café-restaurant with live jazz music is in the city center, which has an open air floor. Fast food cafes are also very popular. There is greek bakery cafe, pizza cafe etc. People here love to eat deliciously so opening a new cafe as a local business is always on point.
Museum of Fine Arts
Firstly opened as Branch of the National Gallery of Armenia, in 1979 Museum of fine arts was reorganized and received the status of an independent museum with its own collection. There are more than 1,700 art works such as paintings, sculptures, drawings of different techniques (prints and decorations).
The Museum is a center for all art lovers of Lori region. It is dedicated to increasing the knowledge and appreciation of art through its collection, exhibition and education.
Park near the Train Station
It is the main place for attractions and games. It is a loved place for locals and their kids. You can ride different attractions, even some scary ones, eat cotton candy, popcorn, sunflower seeds, play tennis, visit a cafe and etc.
As there are not so many things to do in Vanadzor people here are spending most of their leisure time walking and resting on the benches. It is especially cool and pleasant in the evening, so take your jacket with you!
Right next to the Park there is central Bus station which has several ways of transportation to many different directions. You might need the Vanadzor to Yerevan minibus which works from around 8 am to 7 pm.
